HEATGUARD® TEMPERING VALVE
Heatguard tempering valves are connected to bathrooms in residential and multi-occupancy buildings to reduce water temperature at tap level to ensure safety for families and children. Tempering valves ensure that the water which reaches the outlet does not exceed 55°C which is the minimum recommended circulating temperature.
These Heatguard tempering valves mix hot and cold water together in order to deliver the water at a constant temperature throughout the entire house, building or system. Blue tempering valves are usually found in conjunction with electric water heaters within hot water systems.
Why are Tempering Valves important?
Hundreds of people every year are burned and seriously injured by domestic hot water. When showering, users may set the shower at a comfortable temperature, however, if the cold water supply drops when someone runs a tap or flushes the toilet, the water temperature will be far too hot. Heatguard tempering valves monitor the temperature of the water and prevent it from reaching scalding temperatures, even if the cold water supply drops.
